Inside VAKUEN's Brand Exhibition: "Keeping Food Fresh Up to Five Times Longer with Vacuum Technology"
Crowds Gather Across the Exhibition, with the Container Exchange Event Drawing the Most Attention
‘Time of VAKUEN’ Runs Through the 10th at Shinsegae Central City in Gangnam
MAKERVILLE's vacuum food-storage brand VAKUEN is holding its brand exhibition, Time of VAKUEN, at Shinsegae Central City in Gangnam through the 10th.
Located in the heart of the heavily trafficked Central City complex, the exhibition was bustling with visitors. On-site events include a prize draw as well as a program allowing visitors to exchange their old food-storage containers for new VAKUEN products.
The exhibition, which opened on the 5th, is themed Time of VAKUEN. Built around the message “We Give You More Time,” the exhibition highlights how VAKUEN's vacuum technology helps ingredients stay fresh for longer.
Four products from the brand's five editions are displayed through seasonal concepts, presenting different ways VAKUEN can be used throughout the year.
At the core of VAKUEN is its vacuum technology. After food is placed inside the container, users can position the VAKUEN Dice Vacuum device, designed specifically for the MACHA series, on top and switch it on.
The device automatically removes air from the container and powers off once the vacuum is created. According to the company, a single charge provides approximately two weeks of use, while VAKUEN can help preserve food for around five times longer than conventional airtight containers.
“Central City sees approximately 50,000 to 60,000 visitors per day, and we estimate that nearly half of them are visiting the VAKUEN exhibition,” a MAKERVILLE representative said. “Given the high volume of visitors, a total of 22 staff members are being deployed across the morning and afternoon shifts to provide product guidance and ensure visitor safety.”
Among the most popular attractions were the prize-draw machine and the container exchange program, where visitors could trade in their used food-storage containers for new VAKUEN products.
Visitors ranging from women in their twenties to homemakers formed long lines to participate in the event.
“The recycling event is limited to 500 products, but we expect it may end earlier than planned due to strong demand, so we are considering additional activities,” a MAKERVILLE representative said.
The container exchange program is also part of MAKERVILLE's ESG initiatives. Rather than disposing of the collected containers, the company plans to send them to a recycling partner so the materials can be reused.
As the exhibition is being held in collaboration with Shinsegae, customers can also purchase VAKUEN products through SSG.com.
A 54-year-old visitor from Sinsa-dong, Gangnam, who attended the exhibition with her daughter, said, “I had heard a lot about VAKUEN from other people in the neighborhood and was curious about it, so I came by after hearing about the exhibition. The containers look premium, and I was fascinated by the idea that vacuum technology could keep food fresh for such a long time.”
“With its unprecedented food-preservation performance, more than 7 million VAKUEN products have already reached customers,” said Byungwoo Song, Director of Brand Marketing at MAKERVILLE. “Through this exhibition, we hope to introduce both existing customers and those discovering VAKUEN for the first time to the brand's vacuum technology, convenience, and other key features.”
Since its launch in 2020, VAKUEN has recorded approximately KRW 25 billion in cumulative sales. With four days still remaining before the exhibition closes, sales generated through the event are reportedly approaching three times the company's original target.
