VAKUEN Sees Surge in Orders After Featured on MBC’s ‘I Live Alone’
What Is VAKUEN, Kyuhyun's Pick on I Live Alone? Surge in Orders Extends Delivery Times to 2–3 Weeks
Original Vacuum Storage Container Developed with Korean Technology Expands Partnerships with Shinsegae, CJ, Lotte, and Other Major Platforms
VAKUEN has drawn widespread attention after Super Junior's Kyuhyun was shown using the brand's containers to organize and store ingredients on MBC's popular variety show I Live Alone.
MAKERVILLE, the developer and distributor of VAKUEN led by CEO Byungjun Jung, announced on the 14th that orders surged following the broadcast on the 19th of the previous month, with deliveries currently taking around two weeks.
In the episode, Kyuhyun neatly organized different types of vegetables and ingredients in individual VAKUEN containers.
Launched by MAKERVILLE in 2020, VAKUEN is a premium vacuum food storage container brand. Although a set can cost around KRW 200,000, the brand has continued to attract strong consumer demand based on its food-preservation performance and product quality.
According to the company, VAKUEN generated KRW 4.9 billion in sales in January alone. Within four years of its launch, cumulative sales volume reached 7.6 million units, while cumulative revenue surpassed KRW 30 billion.
The brand also entered Amazon in the United States last year, with export volumes continuing to grow.
As VAKUEN's popularity has increased, imitation products manufactured in China have also begun appearing in the market. Searches on Naver for terms such as 'Kyuhyun food container' or 'airtight container' can surface products that imitate the appearance of the original VAKUEN design.
VAKUEN is the world's first vacuum-sealing food storage container developed entirely with Korean technology, according to the company, and holds three patents related to technologies including vacuum retention and instant sealing.
After building awareness for approximately three years primarily through word-of-mouth and online group-buying channels, VAKUEN began collaborating with major platforms such as Shinsegae and CJ last year.
At the end of last year, VAKUEN's first brand exhibition, Time of VAKUEN, and its accompanying pop-up store at Shinsegae Department Store's Gangnam branch attracted a total of 160,000 visitors. Combined online and offline sales during the one-week event exceeded KRW 1 billion.
"We are aware that low-priced counterfeit VAKUEN products are being distributed and are currently reviewing the situation," a MAKERVILLE representative said. "This year, we plan to introduce new products that reinforce VAKUEN's originality in partnership with Shinsegae Department Store, CJ, Lotte Home Shopping, and other major platforms."
In addition to VAKUEN, MAKERVILLE operates other brands including ORANGEPO, a kinetic pet furniture brand, and FRECOOK, a time-saving kitchenware brand.
